With Battlefieldโข 6 Early Access Beta dropping on Thursday, August 7, and the Open Beta launching August 9, the time has come to suit up, jump in, and experience what the next generation of Battlefield has to offer.
This update gives you a behind-the-scenes look at how Battlefield Labs has shaped development so far, the changes being made based on your feedback, and a preview of what lies ahead as we push toward full launch.
๐ฌ Battlefield 6 Labs: Player Feedback in Action
Since introducing Battlefield Labs, the development team has been focused on collecting feedback, analyzing player behavior, and testing new gameplay mechanics in real-time. The reception has been strong, and weโre continuing to build on that momentum.
๐ Note: Battlefield Labs will pause during the Open Beta, and return shortly after for continued iterations.
๐ซ Gameplay Changes for Open Beta
๐ Open vs Open Weapon Modes
In response to community discussion around class systems and weapon balancing, the Open Beta introduces two options:
- Open Weapon Mode: Full flexibility.
- Closed Weapon Mode: Class-restricted loadouts.
Try both โ each supports full XP progression, and Closed Weapon Conquest is available as a playlist during Beta.
๐บ๏ธ Map & Objective Refinements
Thanks to heatmaps and traversal data (like that from Siege of Cairo), several map changes have been made:
- Better cover placement
- Adjusted objective sizes and layouts
- Enhanced turret positions and visual clarity
These tweaks aim to improve gameplay flow, combat pacing, and balanced play on both sides.

โ๏ธ Domination Gets a Boost
The Domination mode now includes revives, a core Battlefield teamplay mechanic. Expect tighter squad coordination and more strategic combat.
๐ง Weapon Balance & Customization in Battlefield 6
Time-to-Kill (TTK) and Time-to-Death (TTD) have been adjusted. Expect:
- Rebalanced weapon damage
- Enhanced UI for weapon loadouts
- Signature Weapons: Each class now has unique weapons that offer exclusive bonuses โ e.g., Recon players will gain better effectiveness with sniper rifles than other classes.
๐ Class Overhauls: Deep Dive
๐ฅ Assault
- Focus: Frontline squad leader, not lone wolf.
- New Trait: Commanding Presence boosts squad revive and objective capture speed.
- Gadget Updates:
- Deploy Beacon moves from Recon to Assault (limited-use, now a true squad flanking tool).
- New Gadget: Assault Ladder โ deployable vertical or ramp access to hard-to-reach spots.
๐ง Engineer
- Engineers retain their core vehicle role. Feedback will help assess if their gadget pool remains impactful in large-scale combat.
๐ฆ Support
- Minor tuning underway:
- Supply crate refresh rate
- Signature weapon buffs
The goal: Ensure Support remains vital for squad success.
๐ต๏ธ Recon
- New Training Path:Spec Ops replaces Pathfinder:
- Quieter movement
- Passive spotting
- Faster combat disengage
- Active Ability: Call in a UAV to a marked area for passive spotting.
- Signature Trait: Aim Spotting โ ADS auto-spots targets for your team.
๐ Whatโs Next?
- Open Beta (Aug 7โ9): Your chance to experience core systems, try new gadgets, and help shape the game.
- Post-Beta: Battlefield Labs returns with continued playtests and feature refinements before full launch.
